Presentation
Emeset 50 ml oral solution: Each 5 ml solution contains Ondansetron 4 mg as Ondansetron Hydrochloride USP.
Indications
Emeset is used for:
- Preventing nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy (in adults and children) or radiotherapy for cancer (adults only)
- Preventing nausea and vomiting after surgery (adults only)
- Preventing nausea and vomiting in pregnancy
Dosage & Administration
To prevent nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy or radiotherapy:
Adult: The usual adult dose is 10 ml twice a day. This may be given for up to 5 days.
Children aged over 6 months and adolescents: The doctor will decide the dose depending on the child’s size (body surface area) or weight – The usual dose for a child is up to 5 ml twice a day. This can be given for up to 5 days.
To prevent nausea and vomiting after an operation:
Adults/Geriatric/Child of 12 years or over: 16 mg 1 hour before induction of anesthesia.
To prevent nausea-vomiting in gastroenteritis:
Adult: 8 mg three times daily.
Pediatric (1 month or over): 0.15 mg/kg body weight three times daily.
To prevent nausea-vomiting in pregnancy: 8 mg 2-3 times daily
Patients with moderate or severe liver problems: The total daily dose should not be more than 8 mg/10 ml.
