Presentation
Losamax-H 50/12.5: Each tablet contains Losartan Potassium USP 50 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide BP 12.5 mg.
Indications
Losamax-H is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on losartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone. It is also indicated to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.
Dosage & Administration
High Blood Pressure:
The usual dose of Losamax-H for most patients with high blood pressure is 1 tablet of Losamax-H 50/12.5 per day to control blood pressure over the 24-hour period. This can be increased to 2 tablets once daily of Losamax-H 50/12.5 or changed to 1 tablet daily of Losamax-H 100/25 per day. The maximum daily dose is 2 tablets per day of Losamax-H 50 /12.5 Tablets or 1 tablet daily of Losamax-H 100 /25 Tablets.
Use in patients with Hepatic Impairment:
The combination of Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide is not recommended for titration in patients with hepatic impairment because the appropriate 25 mg starting dose of Losartan cannot be given.
